Welcome Helpers

Medway Campus Needs You!

Welcome Helpers are the most vital part of the Welcome experience for new students arriving at Medway. You are the first face they see when they arrive and the first person to lend them a hand with moving their belongings into halls.

Remember how new and overwhelming moving to university was for you? Be there to help new students settle in and help signpost to the facilities they might need with the benefit of your knowledge and experience. You can also run or take part in Medway’s day and night-time Welcome Events, including hosting Campus Tours, Socials, and much more. Be creative and suggest your own ideas to get students excited to be a part of the Medway campus.

Arrivals Weekend 2020 dates are still to be confirmed.

Compulsory training for Welcome Helpers will take place in the week before Welcome Week in the Student Hub. You would need to commit to at least 2 2-hour shifts across the weekend and you will be supported by your Full Time Officers and GK Unions staff.

What can I do to help?

  • Be a helping hand to support students moving into their accommodation for the first time.
  • Be a source of knowledge to signpost students around the unfamiliar facilities on campus.
  • Be reassuring to help new arrivals feel comfortable and welcome to Medway!
