Join societies to make friends, take part a particular activity, develop skills and have fun. Groups typically meet weekly and organise a variety of activities for their members. Societies are run by students for students.
Membership fees are generally around £3 to join for the year. That money goes towards organising the events and activities you'll be able to do with the society.
Can't see a society you're interested in?
Why not set up your own? It's really easy, all you need is a unique idea and 6 people to be interested in joining.
All you need to do is complete a New Society Application Form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Joining societies is a great way of making new friends, meeting likeminded people and the students who run societies develop key transferable skills which look great on their CVs. Plus, if you do set up a society, you will receive training, funding and ongoing guidance to help you do it. Go on, make a difference!
